Shanghai has attracted more and more international students to live, work and start their own businesses. 3. How is the unemployed time calculated? 
The time of unemployment is generally based on the time of returning to China after graduation.  Here's an example: finish the course in January 2020 and return to China in March 2020; go abroad to get graduation certificate again in June 2020; work overseas from August 2020 to December 2020 and return to China in January 2021; pay taxes in other cities from August 2021 to December 2021; pay taxes in Shanghai after January 2022. In this case, unemployed time and return time is March 2020, March to August 2020 is regard as unemployed; if can provide overseas work certificate, the period from August 2020 to December 2020 will not be counted as unemployed. The period from January 2021 to January 2022 will be counted as unemployed. If work in other cities and pay taxes, the period will also be counted as unemployed in Shanghai. 

Applicant's personal registration materials
1. Overseas academic certificate, degree certificate and transcript. 
Diploma certification only requires the highest overseas diploma; The original paper version of the transcript should be provided. If not, need to provide the school official website search path and account password. 
2. The highest degree certificate obtained in China before studying abroad.  If the applicant before going abroad is the current staff, provide the materials for original work unit agreed to transfer or resigned .
Generally stored in the archives, if lost, can go to the school or home place to get make-up files; if the applicant is current employee, the resignation materials are needed only for state-owned enterprises and public institutions. 
3. Passport, visa and all entry and exit records. 
If the passport is lost, it should be replaced and the supplementary explanation should be submitted. Entry and exit records need to be recorded from birth to application for household registration. 
4. Household register and ID card. If household register has been canceled during study abroad, should provide the valid household register cancellation materials within 90 days. 
The household register that did not update within 5 years commonly is suggested to update in home place.
5. International students who meet the incentive policy need to provide additional materials. 
Such as entrepreneurial settlement, urgent professional shortage. 
6. The original of the householder page of the household register and the personal page, and the letter of consent to settle down. 
The householder page is the page with household address and household number. The personal page is the page of the applicant. If the household register is not available, the household registration certificate issued by the public security department can be provided instead. 
7. Spouse and children. 
If married, the marriage certificate shall be provided; In case of divorce, divorce certificate, divorce agreement or mediation letter or judgment of the court shall be provided; If have children, should provide their birth certificates and personal commitments in line with the current family planning policies of the state and the municipality.

Among the above required materials, the materials that can be verified through data sharing or online and the certificates and licenses that can be obtained through the electronic certificate library need not be submitted repeatedly. Requirements for international students' personal residence registration 
1. After returning to China, pay taxes in Shanghai within two years until the end of residency
