The validity period of a registered trademark is 10 years. Where a registered trademark needs to continue to be used after the expiration of its term of validity, it shall go through the formalities for renewal within 12 months before the expiration of the term. If it fails to do so during this period, it may be granted a six-month extension period.
Notes for Trademark Renewal
1.If the enterprise wants to renew the trademark, please pay attention to the time limit. If the time limit is missed and the extension period is entered, an additional extension fee will be required. A renewal application can be submitted within one year before the expiration of the validity period of a trademark, and more money will be charged if the renewal application is submitted half a year after the end of the validity period. This is also called the extension of a trademark. If there is no renewal of a trademark after the extension period, the trademark will be revoked and the same or similar trademark can not be applied for within one year.
2.After the renewal of the trademark, the enterprise will get a trademark renewal certificate instead of issue a new trademark certificate again. Some enterprises just throw the trademark certificate away when renewal, thinking that there will be new certificates issued. The trademark certificate should be used together with the certificate of trademark renewal.
