Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Vehicle License Plate application requirements have been agreed to be lowered by both Guangdong and Hong Kong authorities with the increasing economic integration between Hong Kong and the Mainland. A 6-year inspection exemption may be granted to some eligible Hong Kong vehicles entering/leaving the Mainland via the Bridge in order to facilitate economic development.
Requirements for Cross-boundary Commercial Vehicle
1. The length of the car is less than 6 meters;
2. Small vehicle with 8-seater and below (including driver);
3. Commercial vehicle is not allowed to carry cargo.
Mainland Vehicle License Plate
1. For foreign enterprise invested in Guangdong, the application conditions and number of vehicle allowed are:
(1) 3 years (including the year the application is submitted) aggregated tax payable more than RMB100,000 is eligible to apply for 1 Commercial Vehicle;
(2) 3 years (including the year the application is submitted) aggregated tax payable more than RMB500,000 is eligible to apply for 2 Commercial Vehicles;
(3) 3 years (including the year the application is submitted) aggregated tax payable more than RMB1,000,000 is eligible apply for 3 Commercial Vehicles.
2. For overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who have made donations to the Mainland, the application conditions and number of vehicle allowed is:
(1) Donation aggregated more than RMB5 million to Guangdong province since China’s reform and opening-up is eligible apply for 1 Commercial Vehicle.
3. For high-tech foreign enterprises, the application conditions and number of vehicle allowed is:
(1) Foreign Enterprises listed in the China's National High-tech Enterprise List is eligible to apply for 1 Commercial Vehicle.
4. For other investors, the application conditions and number of vehicle allowed is:
(1) Setting up business, school, financial institution, establishing cooperative law firm in the mainland, which meets the investment standard.
Hong Kong Vehicle License Plate
1. Applicant
State-owned Enterprise/ Collective Enterprise/Civil Enterprise or Private Enterprise That Have Submitted the Application in Guangdong
2. Application conditions and number of vehicle allowed
3 years (including the year the application is submitted) aggregate tax payable more than RMB1 million is eligible to apply for 1 Commercial Vehicle.
Validity of License Plate
The License Plate is valid for 5 years and shall be renewed upon expiring according to the regulations. The license plate will be canceled after 3 years without proper extension.
