Many investors no matter enterprises or business individuals wishing to do business in Asia find incorporating as a Hong Kong limited company offers multiple advantages. Hong Kong’s British history established a dependable and business-friendly legal structure, distinct from mainland China’s, with an open, internationally-minded atmosphere. Though Hong Kong’s residents come from all over the world, nearly everything can be conducted in English. That means Hong Kong’s a great place to open a business, or from which to launch operations anywhere in Asia.

Types of Company in Hong Kong
Before company registration, one of the important steps to take is to choose a legal entity form. Opening a foreign business in Hong Kong is generally restricted to one business type: a Limited company. However, if you already have a business elsewhere, there are a couple of other options.

1. Limited Company
A limited company is the most common business type in Hong Kong. Since it’s officially incorporated in HK, you’ll enjoy all the same tax benefits as resident entrepreneurs do, including the free trade agreement with China.

2. Branch Office
If your company is already registered somewhere else, you can open a branch office in Hong Kong. This type of office is not independent from its parent company, and comes with a distinct set of limitations.

3. Representative Office
A representative office is the most limited way to establish a presence in HK. Representative offices can’t be engaged in any profit-making activities, meaning you may not make or sell goods or services in Hong Kong. This type of office is best if you’re planning to open an office for a non-sales based branch of your company, like support or marketing staff.

Minimum Requirements for Registration
1 director (no restriction on nationality);
1 shareholder (no restriction on nationality);
1 company secretary (if you wish, we can serve as your company secretary );
No capital investment required;
Minimum 1 issued share;
Taxes levied only on profits arising within HK.
