The renewal registration of a registered trademark means that the owner of a registered trademark goes through formalities according to law to extend the validity period of the registered trademark.
The term of validity of a registered trademark shall be ten years, counted from the date of approval of the registration. Each renewal of registration shall be valid for ten years.
An application for renewal of the registration shall be made within six months before the expiration of the validity period of the registered trademark. If the application is not made within this period, an extension period of six months may be granted, but an extension fee of 500 YUAN shall be charged. If the registration is not renewed within the period of extension, the Trademark Office shall cancel the registered trademark and make it known to the public. After the cancellation, the original trademark shall have no rights conferred by law. After examining the application for trademark renewal, the Trademark Office shall issue the certificate of trademark renewal and shall not issue another trademark registration certificate. The original trademark registration certificate shall be used together with the certificate of trademark renewal.
Information required for trademark renewal
1. If the applicant is a company, shall submit a photocopy of the Business License; if the applicant is an individual, shall submit a photocopy of his/her ID card;
2. Copy of the Trademark Registration Certificate;
3. If entrust an agency organization, submit a "Trademark Agency Power of Attorney" (a joint trademark renewal of the power of attorney should be issued by the representative);
4. Sign the trademark renewal document "Trademark Renewal Registration Application";
5. If the application documents are in a foreign language, a Chinese translation with the signature and seal of the translation agency shall be provided.
Time required for trademark renewal: about 2-3 months after submitting the renewal to get the extension approval certificate.
