The APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) is a travel card issued in accordance with the APEC Business Travel Card Operating Framework. The cardholder is allowed to visit any of APEC's 21 member economies as a business visitor for up to two months at a time for a period of five years. The implementation of the APEC Business Travel Card has reduced the process of entry examination and approval for business people in each economy, which can save visa fees for cardholders and reduce travel costs.

The application requirements of Shanghai APEC Card mainly include the following aspects:
Corporate Background: The applicant shall meet certain qualification criteria and quantitative indicators, including but not limited to:
1. Enterprises with advanced and high-level talents;
2. High-tech enterprises, especially the city's top 100 high-tech enterprises, listed unicorn enterprises etc.;
3. Newly introduced new key projects for settling down;
4. Companies that have visited 16 APEC economies to participate in the exhibition.

Personal Qualifications: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Official staff of Chinese nationality in Shanghai;
2. Working in the enterprise for six months or more;
3. No criminal record;
4. No record of visa rejection by APEC economies.

Quantity and Quality: The applicant enterprise needs to have the corresponding number of people and quality, the specific requirements are as follows:
1. The number of employees of the company is not less than 10;
2. Trade with 16 economies exceeding US $100,000.

Persons in Special Circumstances: For applicants in special circumstances, applications may also be considered if:
1. Chinese (mainland) personnel in sino-foreign joint ventures, wholly foreign-owned enterprises and Taiwan-Hong Kong-Macao funded enterprises;
2. In the case of centralized card processing at the corporate headquarters, the head office can apply for business travel cards for the staffs of its subsidiaries in accordance with the regulations.
