China work-related residence permit is different from work permit. It is not your visa but your residence permit that gives you the right to live in China. Your initial visa grants you the right to enter China for a specific purpose, but expires after a few months. If you wish to stay longer in China, you will need to apply for a residence permit which allows you to leave the country and return without an additional visa as long as the permit remains valid.
On 28th July 2018, the State Council promulgated the Decision on the Cancellation of a series of Administrative Permits (Guo Fa [2018] No.28), formally abolishing work permit requirement for residents of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan working in Mainland China. On 6th August 2018, the General Office of the State Council released the Measures on Application and Issuance of Residence Permit for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Residents (Guo Ban Fa [2018] No.81), which came into effect from 1st September.
Types of Work Permit in China
There are three different types of China Work Permit Cards, namely, .
Category A: Score above 85 will be qualified to get Class A Work Permit Card;
Category B: Score between 60 and 85 will be qualified to get Class B;
Category C: Score below 60 will only get Class C.
The Grade always depends on Age, Education, Salary,Years of Working, Place of Residence. Encourage high-end talents, Control Ordinary, and Restriction on Low-end. This is the foreigner working concept of China Government.
Procedure for Work-related Residence Permit Application
1. Register the company in China foreign expert bureau.
2. Register the applicant in Company foreign expert bureau system.
3. Processing China Work Permit Notice Letter.
4. Apply for Z visa from Port of Entry of China or Embassy of China in Applicant's Country.
5. Apply for China Foreigner Work Permit Card.
6. Apply for Residence Permit from Immigration of China.
Document Required
1. Diploma or academic certificate;
2. Non criminal record certificate
3. Medical report;
4. Police Temporary Residence Registration Form;
5. Recent Photo;
6. Company License/Employment agreement.
