Hainan Airlines Launches Shenzhen-Vienna Direct Flight
A direct flight of China's Hainan Airlines between southern Chinese city of Shenzhen and the Austrian capital Vienna was launched on Saturday, with the landing of its first aircraft here at the Vienna International Airport.
Hainan Airlines signed a letter of intent for cooperation with Vienna International Airport during the Boao Forum for Asia in April this year, outlining a plan to launch a non-stop air route between Shenzhen and Vienna. The airline operates a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the new route, with two round-trip flights per week.
Hainan Sanya Joins China-UK Airline Network
China Southern Airlines has started a non-stop service between London and Sanya, a popular tourist destination of Hainan province. The first flight arrived into London Heathrow Airport on Thursday evening.
This twice-weekly service started at an opportune time, three months after the Chinese government announced its intention to establish a free trade zone in Hainan by 2020, where multinationals are encouraged to set up their regional headquarters.
Direct Flight Connects Haikou with Philippine Capital
A non-stop flight from Haikou to Manila, capital of the Philippines, opened service at Haikou Meilan International Airport on May 29. The air route was the first between cities in Hainan and the Philippines after the new visa-free entry policies for overseas visitors from 59 countries and regions took effect on May 1.
Using a 155-seat A320 airplane, the new flight operates each Tuesday and Saturday. It takes off in Haikou at 10:30 pm and arrives in Manila at 1:10 am local time. It departs at 6:45 pm on the same day and reaches Haikou at 9:30 pm local time.
Hainan Airlines starting direct flights to Mexico
Hainan Airlines, China's largest private airline, will launch direct flights between China and Mexico from March 21. It will also become the first Chinese carrier to operate nonstop flights between China and Latin America. The flight, which will stop at Tijuana, Mexico and arrive at Mexico City, will fly three times a week and be operated with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The direct flight between China and Mexico will attract more passengers as it will provide easier connections to Latin America rather than by transferring from Europe or the Middle East.
